Week 36 + What We’ve Decided to do with the birth

DSC_9726Hello from this very pregnant lady to you. I cannot believe that we are at getting so, so close to meeting this little peanut! I am SO beyond eager to meet this nugget and get the labor party started. Honestly, I overall enjoyed the challenge of labor and I’m eager to take it on again (and not feel so pregnant anymore) Speaking of labor, I’ll be sharing more details of that below on what we are doing this time around!

First of all, my app says that this one is around 18-19 inches long and 6 lbs. I have some speculation though that that isn’t quite accurate, since at full term with Benaiah he was 6lb 1 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. We will see what this one’s size is. I am hoping for around that same weight. Fun fact: Landon was 10lbs at birth – really hoping to stay under that haha.

Other note worthy items, my hip is feeling better. Still not quite 100% yet, but SO MUCH better – doing basic things doesn’t feel so discouraging and I can walk with Benaiah a lot more comfortably. Praise Jesus, He is good!

I am still feeling a lot of movement, although it is less huge punches now and more rolls, squirming, etc. I cannot tell where she is right now – I feel like she moves so much around I feel her everywhere. Hoping she is head down and secured! We shall see on my next visit.

Speaking of visits, Landon and I opted to switch providers at the last minute and went with my old midwife (she was with me throughout Benaiah’s prenatal visits) and have a home birth. Honestly, I am as surprised as some of you may be. I didn’t really have a home birth on my radar when I got pregnant with this one – but after praying about it, talking with Isabelle, and noticing the difference between her vs. the other midwives I was with, it was a no brainer.

Since I am a low risk pregnancy and my experience with Benaiah’s birth was SO good, I really don’t feel nervous at all, mainly excited. I am super excited for (Lord willing) a more peaceful birth experience, in the comfort of my own home. I’m excited to tackle this new adventure with Landon, together and eager to experience my first home birth.

T-minus less than four weeks until the big day. I will be so excited to share the details here and have a change to compare hospital birth with Benaiah vs. home birth with this one. Honestly, I really enjoyed my experience at the hospital with Benaiah, but I am always up for something new and excited to see what it will be like having a birth here. I’ll report back. 😉
