Top Five Weekend Highlights
And just like that we are back to Monday! I know, I know, I probably say this every Monday morning, but I seriously can’t believe how fast this weekend flew by. We were fairly busy, which I am sure had something to do with it. But in between the hustle and bustle of the season, we were able to enjoy some down time, which was much needed.
Landon and I kicked our weekend off with a date night out to see the new Star Wars movie and I loved it! I didn’t grow up geeking out over Star Wars, but my husband did, which means we obviously need to go see each new Star Wars film. We both enjoyed the movie overall, but I think the best part was the amazing theater recliners. YES PLEASE.
Since this weekend was a whirlwind and I didn’t take as many pictures as I hoped to, I am going to share a few highlights with you in more ‘bullet point,’ fashion.
Okay, ready to dive in?
Christmas Brunch
Saturday morning, I woke up fully planning on getting my long run in before our church’s women’s ministry brunch. Unfortunately, I slept through my alarm and ended up just being able to make it out the door on time, for our brunch. Instead of running in the freezing cold, I cozied up inside with some good friends from church and enjoyed pancakes, bacon, fruit and eggs with fellowship and encouragement. I am so thankful for the women in our church and excited to be a part of such an encouraging, uplifting and fun group!
Benaiah’s First Hair Cut
I don’t know whether this is a highlight or a not, (because haircuts = growing up and I don’t think I am ready for this little one to grow up.) Regardless of my feelings, Benaiah enjoyed the hair cut and even though we trimmed a TINY bit off the back, I feel like he looks so much older. It is probably all in my mind, but he looks so much more like a little boy. Watching him grow up is such a joy and I am trying to savor each and every moment I can.
7.5 Mile Sunday Morning Run
Since I didn’t get my long run in Saturday morning, I decided to bite the bullet and crank it out before church. Okay, so this wasn’t a long, long run but it was longer than the rest of my runs during the week, so I am going to go with it. I am trying to stay around half marathon fitness level right now (since I don’t feel the need to be cranking out 20 miles on the weekends right now) and I am happy with it. I miss those 15+ mile runs, but I am also enjoying this slower/easier season in a way too. The exciting part it is my times are getting faster and I finished this run averaging around just below a 8 minute mile. YAYYY. It was so refreshing to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and I loved every single minute of it. If I didn’t have worship team, I would have gone for a solid 10, but oh well.
Beauty Counter Party
Sunday evening, my cousin (from FLORIDA) came over to my place (she is up for Christmas) and I hosted a Beauty Counter party for her. This past year, I’ve been researching and learning more and more about nutrition and health and not only what food I eat, but also what I put on my body! I love Beauty Counter’s natural products and makeup, but also their mission of informing the public about what is actually in our daily products and how to choose healthier options for our families! Thanks for coming, Janelle! We love you! (Also, shout out to Kimberly for coming, I snagged the picture after you left- sorry!!)
And that’s a wrap, my weekend in a nutshell. I hope you had a wonderful weekend too!
