The Season of Waiting
Wait (Psalm 130:5)
Hope (Romans 8:24-25)
Abide (John 15:4)
Do (James 1:22)
These words have floated around in my head for a while now. I’ve also been thinking about the many different seasons of life. Seasons of joy, trials, excitement, and change. Right now, I feel like I am in a season of waiting. I feel like I am on the bubble of exciting things, yet also in a waiting period.
The Lord has shown me however, that in this waiting period, it doesn’t mean to sit back and relax. Waiting doesn’t equal complacency.
Through the last year, the Lord has shown me that waiting produces activity. Through this period of waiting, waiting for the right man to come, the ‘future’ plans, schooling, etc, the Lord has shown me that activity during a waiting period is the best thing to do.
He has shown me that these days of waiting are precious moments of freedom that He has given me. Sometimes, I think for us girls especially, we view waiting as a period of boredom, something that we are doomed to face. I used to think that too. It wasn’t until the Lord opened my eyes, that I began to realize how crucially beautiful these years, months, days are. I am so grateful for singleness, for the flexibility of time that the Lord has given me these past couple of years.
Through this season of my life, I have been able to draw near to Him and spend much time in the Word, and I’ve been able to learn skills that will help prepare me for, Lord willing, the next years. I’ve spent a lot of time on my feet, running, and I’ve been able to start my coffee business and CLEP out of classes.
Remember to look back on things that you were able to do through the Lord’s strength. Remember that each season that the Lord brings to your life is a time that is completely designed by Him. Does that mean every single moment will be perfect and life will be easy? No. Does that mean my life won’t have any trials? Of course not. It does mean however, that when struggles and trials come, I have an anchor to hold fast to.
Psalm 16:11
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
So, remember to be joyful in each season of life that the Lord designs for you. Cherish Him. Immerse yourself in the Word. Seek Him. Take action.
Wait. Hope. Abide. Do.
