Sunday Run Day + Family Time (Weekend Recap)

Well hello there friends and happy Monday morning. I hope you are popping over to the blog today feeling refreshed after a relaxing weekend. I wouldn’t quite describe our weekend as relaxing, but it was fun and definitely refreshing. Last week was Landon’s first week of work at his new job and although work went super well, by Friday, both Landon and I felt more than ready for the break. Landon’s hours are (and feel) quite a bit longer than his previous job, which means Friday night was pretty low key and relaxing and it felt wonderful. We are so excited about this new phase of life and even though we have longer days and hours apart from one another, we are happy with our new routines and especially grateful for the weekends.

Saturday

After a week of getting up around 5:30, my internal alarm clock woke me up around 6:00 on Saturday morning. On a typical Saturday, I may have felt the temptation to sleep in, but since we had a busy day ahead of us I used the early morning to my advantage. After pouring myself a cup of coffee and saying good morning to Landon, I grabbed my Bible and spent time with Jesus. This past week, I’ve been really trying to systematize my morning hours and trying REALLY hard not to get on my phone right when I wake up. I don’t know if you are like me, but one of the first things I used to do in the mornings was check my phone and get sucked into social media asap. This past week, I’ve been trying to not check any social media or emails or anything until after devotions and saying goodbye to Landon. It is amazing how much more productive my mornings have been without distractions. While we are talking about phones, I’m also trying really hard to not check social media when Niah is around too. It has been a little hard to get back into that routine, but I want to be present when I am with my son and I know that when I am on my phone, I am not practicing presence. So, you all can keep me accountable, okay?

Alright, moving on from that side tangent…after coffee and devotions, Landon and I decided to push our planned run to Sunday and use Saturday as a rest day, since our schedule was looking pretty tight. After a quick breakfast of oatmeal (that looked very similar to this photo) we hopped into the car and drove to Landon’s parent’s old house to help them finish moving the last of their furniture into their new place. It felt weird to be back at their old house and a little bitter sweet leaving, knowing it would be the last time being there together. Even though I didn’t grow up in the home, I do have some sweet memories there. That house is where Landon and I first started seeing each other and then fell in love. And then in summer of 2016, I had my first garden all to myself and journeyed through my pregnancy with Niah. It was sad to leave, but fun to remember all of the good times Landon and I have had at their old home.

After helping, we went out for Chinese and I ate what I could find that was vegan. Fun fact, my mother in law is vegan too. So, she and I found what we could eat and enjoyed big plates of veggies, chow mien noodles, and sweet and sour soup. It tasted as good as it sounds. Another side note, my month of going vegan is almost over. I will give you guys an update this week.

We left shortly after lunch and headed back home to have our first worship/jam session at our house. It was so fun to have some musical friends over and spend time playing worship music, eating snacks and hanging out together. My sister came and she spent the night, which obviously meant we partied all night long. And by all night long, I mean until ten or so, before we all crashed.

Sunday

Sunday morning, I again, woke up early and Landon and I went out early for a easy, five mile run. Since Abby was over, she stayed back with Niah (they both ended up sleeping which worked great) It was SO fun to have an early morning run with just Landon and I. Usually, one of us is pushing the stroller, so to have some quality one on one time was super special.

sunday run

I’ve been working on getting my pacing right and after doing some studying, found out that my marathon pace (MP) should be around 7:40-7:58 pace. (Still need to confirm that). We ended up running 5 miles with an average pace of 7:51. WOohoo. Landon and I talked the entire time, which made the miles speed by. I wish I could run with him every time. LOOK AT HIS FORM, PEOPLE.

Once we got back home, we all quickly got ready for church and headed out (right on time, I might add) to our morning church service. Normally, we have a potluck after church right every Sunday, but this Sunday was hospitality Sunday (our church encourages others to have people over from either the church body or neighbors, etc). Instead of eating at church, we headed back to our place, threw together a salad and took it over to my brother-in-law’s house for a late birthday party for Landon.

We all enjoyed a super chill day, complete with big salads and Frisbee and The Greatest Showman. It was my third time watching it and I still can’t get over how much I love this film. Anyone else like me?

While watching the movie, Niah crashed hard and slept through most of it on Kayli’s (my sister in law’s) lap. How precious is this photo? I just want to stare at it all day long.

Landon and I spent the rest of our evening gearing up for Monday and we both fell asleep before we turned the lights off or said good night to each other. > I think that describes how this weekend was. haha.

I hope you all have a flat-out amazing Monday! Catch you all tomorrow!
