So Now What…? Plus Life Happenings
I am pretty sure post-marathon blues are a thing. Because I am having a weird mixture of feelings post-race. I feel excited and happy it’s over, that I did it without dying and with a decent time, while sad that I don’t get to do it again, immediately. Can it just be taper season again? And now that I don’t have this upcoming, approaching marathon goal, I am trying to figure out what is next.
I know for sure, that I am going to take some time off right away. For me, that means no running for at least 4 days, if not an entire week. I want to allow my body time to heal, refresh, and restore before pushing myself to get out there again. After that, I want to give my body some time to run without much structure or a training plan, because honestly, I think my brain needs some time to structure workouts/runs/and cross training without a plan and without the pressure of having to preform to whatever ‘plans’ structure says I have to. So, after giving myself time off, I am going to next, focus on doing what feels good to my body, running, working out, and building back some muscle tone (since I was running so much, I dialed down the strength training in my workouts, so I want increase that again.)
After that, I am hoping to sneak in one more half- marathon before the year closes and maybe this time, with my mom! We will see 😉 If not, I would like to run one solo (or with Landon if he wants to) and break my PR of 1:50:00.
As for my next marathon? Lord willing, Landon and I would both like to run another one next year! I have totally fallen head over heals in love with marathon running, so you can be sure to expect to see a lot more posting about marathons and marathon training. I hope you are okay with that! I may look into some spring marathons, so if anyone knows of any great spring marathons, hit me up in the comments, okay?
My next marathon goals will be to break my current time, which I think will be fairly achievable – since this one I ran pretty much to enjoy and not with much time goals in mind. But, my ultimate marathon dream goal is Boston! It may take a couple tries to get there, but I am planning on reaching that goal, one of these years.
Now onto other recent life happenings…
Benaiah took two naps yesterday, let the heavens rejoice! So, last week, Benaiah didn’t nap at all. I don’t know if it was a growth spurt, or what the problem was, but he was not having the nap thing. Yesterday, he took a two hour long morning nap and an hour long afternoon nap. Day = made. I’ve found it so helpful to have those few hours to myself so I can get blog work, run coaching, emails, laundry, cleaning, house work, dinner prep, etc. out of the way while he sleeps. It is so much easier to be in full on ‘mom’ mode when I have a few hours to get necessary, but time consuming things in while he sleeps. So thankful for the nap thing to be happening again. Also, can we just take a moment to appreciate how adorable the feet on the table thing is. I know, I know, it isn’t quite up to etiquette standards, but you have to admit, it is pretty adorable. Or is this just a weird mom thing?
Excuse the Iphone photo, but whenever my sister is over, I like to take advantage of her hair styling skills. If I could have her (and Emily too!) come to my house at least 3 days a week, curl my hair, and then hang out all day long – that’d be great.
Lastly, Chipotle burrito bowls continue to make my life about 127% better. I think I could eat these 3x a week and be quite happy. Anyone else with me on this?
I hope you guys have a fantastic Tuesday! Catch you tomorrow and thanks for stopping by the blog today.
