My Valentine
What to know a secret? I’ve only had one Valentine and I’m so happy it’s been this guy.
A few days before Landon asked me if I were interested in starting a relationship with him was Valentine’s Day. I remember that Valentine’s Day 2014 like it was yesterday. I remember being disappointed that I, once again, didn’t have a date for Valentine’s Day. I remember babysitting that night wondering when I would be on a date with someone special. Fast forward one year and I was married and celebrating my first Valentine’s Day with my husband with fresh homemade donuts and angel food cake. Fast forward one more year and here we are, celebrating a Valentine’s Day together, married for a year and a half with a five month old boy. Isn’t funny how much can change in just a year?
The one thing that hasn’t changed from last Valentine’s Day to today is my Valentine and I’m so happy about that.
Landon was my first and is my only Valentine and I thought I would take today to do some serious bragging on my man. If you are not a fan of mushy things, skip today’s post and check back in tomorrow for regular posting.
This guy never ceases to amaze me. First of all, I love his heart for Jesus. He loves the Lord with all his heart and strives to glorify Him in everything He does. Landon’s love for Jesus makes me fall in love Jesus and Landon even more. Landon routinely never fails to have devotions with me and pray with me at night, no matter the hour. He is usually the one to finish praying, since I normally fall asleep before our prayers are over. (Maybe we should start earlier…?)
Landon is also so patient, gracious, and forgiving. No matter how many times I mess up or say something without thinking, he is always loving me. I’ve seen him show so much grace to me through this new season of becoming a family of three. There is a lot of changes that happen when a little one comes into the family and guys, he has handled all of the changes, all of the hormones, all of the tears, and all of the interrupted nights, with such grace.
There are many things that I love about Landon, too many in fact, to count. But in addition to how he loves Jesus, is how he loves Niah and I. His love looks like him bouncing Benaiah around for hours in order for the little man to fall asleep, just so I can have a break. It looks like a date night, every Friday, no matter how tired he is. It sounds like him reading bed time stories to Benaiah and telling me ‘You are so beautiful,’ even when my hair is in a messy bun on top of my head and my makeup is all smudged. He loves selflessly and I’m so grateful he’s our Landon.
He’s strong, compassionate, fearless, bold, passionate, and humble. He thinks critically (which balances my paint with very large strokes mentality) and analyzes details. He loves numbers, soccer, chess, cheese, and donuts.
And even though he occasionally enjoys a donut here or there, he loves health and fitness. I love that we are able to workout together, challenge each other, (I still have yet to beat him in our plank wars), and motivate one another when one of us is feeling lazy.
He is a wonderful father to Benaiah and I love that he takes time to hold him, teach him new things, introduce him to the world, and read to him.
So here’s to you, my Valentine. I hope you feel loved today. Thank you for all you do for our family. We love you.
