Life Updates
I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve done a day in the life of post or any sort of life update, so here we go! First of all, I apologize for my lack of presence here on the blog, I think in this update you will get a sense of why I’ve been a little here and there on this space and I do want to change that. I’m kind of thinking about going down to posting 3-4 times a week, instead of 5, since that seems like it would be 1: more manageable to me and 2: I would be able to have more quality posts vs. quantity. I would waayy rather have you reading quality material than just, simply quantity – if you get what I mean.
Needless to say, I am still figuring out just what that will look like, so bear with me until then. I’m also sensing that this blog post is just going to be sort of a rambling one, but instead of trying to force structure, I think I am just going to go with it.
Life lately has been BUSY and full and wonderful. As I posted last week, we just got back from an incredible vacation and it was just what my soul was craving. 1: More time with my favorite people 2: Sunshine and warmth 3: Solo runs on something other than my treadmill or typical route. Since getting back from a glorious week of warmth, family fun and beach runs, we jumped into life right away and got back into a somewhat semi-normal routine. Right now, Benaiah’s still napping his typical 2 hour afternoon nap, which is life giving to this mama.
Behind the scenes, I’ve been working hard to get my run coaching biz off the ground and I’m excited to be working with three (wait, four) clients this month and absolutely LOVE watching them grow in their running, fitness, and confidence. One of the reasons why posting on here has been harder is balancing time and priorities with running a business, blogging, while still being a present wife and mother. Ultimately, my main goal in life is to be love the Lord and love my family and if nothing else is ‘done,’ that is enough. However, learning how to balance running a business and a blog and being active in ministry and motherhood is quite the learning curve. But, I’ve also really loved it and love learning more about business and blogging and helping others. It’s so rewarding to see people PR or shave a crazy 20 minutes off their half marathon time! Run coaching has definitely developed into a passion and I can’t wait to see what is in store.
My own running is really increasing lately and I’m excited to see progress with my own running goals and dreams. Ever since having Benaiah, I’ve been working on getting my times back to what they were pre-baby and let me tell you it has NOT come as easily as I was hoping or expecting. Yes, postpartum 2017 I ran the most miles I’ve ever run before (running a marathon and 2 halfs) but my speed was still not where I wanted it to be.
So, post marathon, I decided to start training speed back into me and guess what, it’s finally paying off. I’m clocking low 7 min miles with semi-hard effort and it feels so good. Getting results and hitting goals doesn’t happen over night, but in the discomfort of discipline – growth and magic happens! So excited to get this speed back and I am getting hungry for that half PR. Progress makes me so happy!
Speaking of progress, the more I learn about nutrition the more I geek out and want to start implementing every single thing I learn into our eating routines. Lately, the newest progress in our nutrition has been me switching over from buying to making almond milk. I think I’ve shared this on my Instagram before, but it tastes SO MUCH BETTER than buying it and I love knowing every single ingredient (which isn’t many) that is in it.
And I think that’s it. High level a lot is going on and mainly related to business, family life, and spending time with friends. And when I start to feel overwhelmed or anxious, I have to remind myself that 1: if I love Jesus and serve others it is enough and 2: this life is such a gift, and I need to savor each and every moment.
So, here’s to savoring life today! I hope you all have an awesome Tuesday!
