Homemade Whole Wheat Bread Sandwich Bread
So I am a big fan of carbs. Once upon a time, I didn’t think that carbs were good for you. Now I realize that it is the kind of carbs that you are filling up with which determine how your body uses them! So, bring on those complex carbs.
Yesterday, I whipped up a batch of homemade bread to make sandwiches with. On our Tuesday picnic, Landon and I made a couple decent sandwiches out of this bread. I was pleasantly surprised at how it turned out and wanted to share with the world. 😉
So, for all you carbs lovers, here is my Whole Wheat Sandwich Bread Recipe.
(This recipe does use a bread machine, but I am sure you can make it by hand. I just haven’t tried it out yet!)
Whole Wheat Sandwich Bread
(Makes 1 Large Loaf)
10 oz. Warm water
1 1/2 Tsp. Salt
1 1/2 Tbsp. Honey or Pure Maple Syrup
1 1/2 Tbsp. Molasses
3 1/2 c. Whole Wheat Flour
1-2 Tbsp. Flax Seed (Ground)
3 Tsp. (Heaping) Yeast
Place all ingredients in order in bread machine. Put on whole wheat bread setting and let knead. Right before bread starts cooking, take bread dough out and roll out into long rectangle. Roll into a loaf (think cinnamon roll rolling) and place in buttered or greased loaf pan.
Once in loaf pan, brush outside of bread dough with egg white and top with oat/ sesame seeds/ poppy seeds/ etc.
Let rise until doubled in size (about 30 minutes in warm spot.)
Once risen. Place in oven at 375 for 30 minutes or until golden on top.
Remove from pan right away and let cool on rack. Enjoy!
Landon and I enjoyed it with mustard, turkey and spinach, but it is good anyway you wish to eat it.
Happy carb loading my friends, hopefully you have a race coming up so you can justify eating the entire loaf 😉
