Another Long Weekend Recap + Good News About Sleep!! (Weekend Recap 11/20)
I know it’s a Monday, but let’s take a minute to celebrate the fact that we have a working computer in the Thompson household! Goodness, you don’t know how dependent you are on technology until you are without. Although it was oddly nice to have a hiatus from the computer, I am glad to be back so I can get into my regular blogging schedule. I missed you guys!
Since I didn’t have access to a computer on Saturday to share my Friday recap with you all again, let’s start our weekend recap on Friday.
Friday
Friday morning, began in typical fashion with a smoothie for breakfast and coffee. After sending Landon off to work, I quickly packed Benaiah and I up and we left the house just before ten o’clock.
I needed to leave the house early, because my sister, Abby, was having our wisdom teeth removed and I didn’t want to miss out on being there to support her (or let’s be honest, also find out how she did with the ‘laughing gas.’)
Once I made it to my parent’s house, I realized my car was driving strangely. My dad came to the rescue and dropped it off at our mechanic’s shop to see what the trouble was. Is it just me, or do you hate car trouble too. I always seem to end up with a bill way higher than I expected which is no fun. Thankfully, it ended up just being a simple fix and I walked out of there for under a hundred dollars. Score.
While my car was being fixed, I hung out with the family, published a blog post, fed Niah, and got ready to go to Abby’s appointment.
While Abby was under the knife (?), Emily and I went out for a sister date and enjoyed lunch at Olive Garden. Does anyone else think their salad is some of the best salad ever? I could pretty much live off that if I wanted too.
Abby’s surgery didn’t take long, so we quickly boxed up the rest of lunch and headed back to pick her up. Thanks to the drugs, she was pretty weepy, but the surgery was successful, praise the Lord!
She was a champ.
By the time I got back to my parents’ house, I didn’t have long until we had to leave. I quickly fed Benaiah, changed a diaper or two, picked up my car, and drove back home. The drive was cold and windy, eh, hello winter.
I came back home to a prepared dinner (thank goodness for crock pots!) and a sore husband. While I was at my parents’, Landon tried cross fit out for the first time and let’s just say, it was effective. 😉
We enjoyed homemade Mongolian chicken for dinner, served over quiona, watched some Dick Van Dyke, caught up on each other’s day, and went to bed way too late.
Saturday
Landon and I woke up Saturday morning to 20 degrees and high winds. Thankfully, soccer was canceled, which meant we had a lazy Saturday morning involving scrambled eggs and hot cups of coffee.
A few hours before breakfast, I conquered a Pilates workout, while Landon watched Benaiah. After a late breakfast, our computer genius friend, Will, came over and worked on our computer, while I washed a couple loads of laundry.
The rest of the day, we spent cleaning, organizing, and relaxing together.
We ended our evening with homemade butternut squash soup, a big salad, and protein shakes for dessert. We also started a puzzle, while we talked late into the night. Saturday was pretty much the perfect relaxing day and I’m already missing it.
Sunday
Sunday wasn’t as relaxing, but just as fun. Landon, Benaiah, and I went to church in the morning, heard a great sermon, and afterwards went to our cousins’ house for an early Thanksgiving and Birthday Celebration for Grandpa Thompson!
Once again, Benaiah stole the show (and hearts) with his sweet smiles and cuddles. We enjoyed lots of delicious food. I especially loved my father-in-law’s homemade sweet potato pie (the sweet potatoes were from their garden!)
Once we got home, we spent time talking, puzzling, working out, and watching a Dick Van Dyke over popcorn, apples, and protein shakes.
Oh and the best part about last night? Benaiah only woke up ONCE to eat. Guys, this hasn’t happened since birth! Hello sleep, it’s nice to know you again. I don’t know if this is a new trend or not, but I am hoping so.
And on that happy note, I’ll leave you for today. May your coffee be strong and your Monday be beautiful.
