A Typical Monday – Running, Sister Time and a Park Date

Yesterday, started off on a really good note. Benaiah slept in until 8:30 which was a small miracle. Almost like clock work, Niah is up and ready to go by 7:00, which is totally fine. However, having an extra 90 minutes to the morning, made for a super relaxing start to our week. While he slept, I had my devotions, cleaned up the house, and wrote yesterday’s blog post. Once Niah woke up, I got him some breakfast, and while I sipped on my coffee, he got to work eating his toast + blueberries. I read him his devotions, got ready to go, and a little over an hour later, we headed out the door for an easy 6 mile run.

morning run

Last week, I had something going on every single morning, which was fun and fine, but my runs felt more rushed and less enjoyable. Yesterday’s run, felt SO GOOD. Maybe it was the chiropractic visit I had on Friday or the less rushed feeling, but either way, it felt so good. The temperature was perfect, Niah enjoyed it, and I felt just so good. I don’t know if there are words to describe it, so we will just go with good.

After my run, I stopped home quickly to get cleaned up a little, hydrate, foam roll, and stretch. Shortly after, we headed to the park to play with the ball and look at squirrels. Right now, Niah is obsessed with squirrels or any other small animal. We were successful in our squirrel hunt and found quite a few to watch. We enjoyed the park (aside from the crazy hot slides – note to self, do not go down hot slides in the summer) and headed back home around 12:30 to meet my sister for lunch.

abby

Abby works a little ways away from our place, so she stopped by for lunch and we all chatted while Niah ate eggs + cucumbers and I munched on a salad (topped with avocado, sunflower seeds, cucumber and tomatoes!) (Photo above from Friday, not Monday, haha)

Once Abby left, Niah and I snuggled together, read some books, and got ready for nap time. Normally, Benaiah goes down around 2 pm for a nap, but lately he seems like he is really tired more around 1. I am trying to see if I can continue to push his nap until 2, but we will see if he continues to make it that long or not. I think the summer sun and weather may have something to do with his extra sleepiness, lately.

While Niah slept, I got ready for the day (finally), got some work done, cleaned the house, and prepped dinner. I couldn’t think of what to make for a while, but finally decided on keeping it easy with salmon + roasted veggies. I’m pretty sure I could live off roasted veggies, they are so yummy and easy. I will usually throw in sweet potatoes with onions, peppers, carrots, broccoli, and whatever other veggie I have in the fridge. Really, almost any veggie roasted is delicious. Although I love having about 29 different kind of veggies at night, I wasn’t feeling super motivated and kept it simple with brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes for the side dishes.

curious george

The rest of our evening included a trip to the library (Niah ran the whole way there, beside Landon and I), a couple rounds of Curious George (he is obsessed with those books lately!) and a much needed early bed time for all three of us!

I hope you all have a great rest of your Wednesday!
