A Soccer Game and a Move
I don’t know about you guys, but this weekend FLEW by. I felt like I woke up Saturday morning, blinked and it we were back to Monday. I am popping over here a little later than usual, sharing a quick recap of how our weekend was, amidst all the business. I hope you all had a restful, fun weekend involving all of your favorite things (my favorite weekend things = family time, coffee, running, a movie night, and games.)
Saturday
Saturday morning, Landon and I both woke up early since Landon had a men’s ministry breakfast. I took full advantage of the early wake up call (6:30 hello you are early on a Saturday morning) and had my devotions in the peace and quiet. Once I was finished reading, I went downstairs and got in a easy, 3 mile treadmill run while Benaiah slept in. Lately, Benaiah’s been sleeping in until 8 or so and I am quiet happy with that. I have no idea why, but I love the extra time in the morning. I feel most productive during the morning and while I love getting in my stroller miles with Benaiah, it does feel good to get it done solo. I have been so encouraged by my running lately that I hired a coach for myself on Friday night. I CANNOT wait to see where they will take me and how far I can go (and how fast) under their watchful eye. Event the coach needs a coach, you feel me?
I was surprised that even after a quick shower Benaiah was still sleeping, so I spent some time stretching and drinking water before he woke up. Once he was up, we ate a quick breakfast and got ready for our big day. Some of our close friends were moving Saturday and we jumped at the change to help them. We also committed to an alumni soccer game, which meant a full day of being out and about. While I packed way too many things for the trip, Landon got home and within a few minutes we were on the road to the moving party.
All of Landon’s siblings + a few other friends were there to help and it felt more like a party than a move (okay, maybe it is just me saying this because I didn’t help a ton #momduty)
Benaiah quickly warmed up to our friend Sam and decided that she was his new BFF.
We packed up the truck within an hour or so, drove about 15 minutes down the road, unpacked and soon after ate a huge Chipotle bowl. Cravings = satisfied. After we were finished eating, we drove to Landon’s soccer game where I met up my friend Natalie and her son, Louie. Louie and Benaiah are practically BFFS and they were both super excited to watch their dads play soccer. It was a little challenging trying to entertain two toddlers who both wanted to be out on the field, but we managed. It was so fun to watch the boys in awe of their dads soccer skills. Landon scored the only goal his team ended up scoring (and of course, I missed it.) From what I have been told, it was epic. Landon’s team ended up losing in a shoot out (is that what they call it in soccer? I have no idea…) but I was super proud of him, regardless. I would have pictures from the game, but my phone died because of the cold. Lesson learned, keep the phone warm!
After the game, we drove a few minutes to the headquarters and enjoyed a fun potluck by the bonfire. Benaiah enjoyed his first cup of hot cocoa, he kept saying “hot cocoa,” with a huge smile on his face and I ate my weight in a quinoa salad. Whoever brought the quiona salad – you are amazing.
We made it home, put a very tired boy to bed and crashed in bed ourselves with an episode an a half of Downtown Abbey. I LOVE this show and Landon is just starting to watch it with me. It has been so fun to re-watch an old, loved show that I haven’t seen for years. I feel like I am getting reacquainted with old friends. haha.
Sunday
I went to bed Saturday night thinking, “ahh, tomorrow will be chill,’ and Sunday went by just as fast as Saturday did. But it was good. Sunday morning, I was on worship team at church, which means all three of us rushing around the house to make it on the door on time. If I am on worship team, I have to be to church an hour and a half before (thank goodness church starts at 10:30.) It isn’t bad to be to church that early, but it does mean that the morning is a little more crunched for time.
Church was so good and it was one of those sermons that left me wanting more. I am definitely going to be mulling over the sermon for this coming week. After church, Landon dropped me off so I could put Benaiah down for a nap while he went back for a meeting and then stopped over his parents to help move some furniture around.
Since I didn’t have ‘anything,’ to do I decided to get in a quick strength sweat session and man, did it feel good to move. I focused on some simple dead lifts, hip thrusters, lunges, push-ups and completed a couple rounds of each movement.
Landon got home just as I was finishing and since Benaiah was still sleeping, we played Dominon over cups of hot coffee.
After our game, I whipped up a batch of homemade cookies and they were everything I wanted and more. First, they were literally the easiest thing ever. 2 bananas and enough oats to make it a dough like texture. Bake. Eat. And secondly, they were delicious. They tasted like banana bread and Landon and I enjoyed them while we talked and prepared dinner.
The rest of the evening we spent as a family, eating dinner, talking and dreaming about the future. We crashed early and went to bed wishing for just one more day to the weekend, but excited for the grind of the week.
And that’s a wrap! I hope you all have an awesome rest of your Monday!
Catch you tomorrow!
What was your weekend like?
