A Really, Really Good Day
Hey, hey there friends and happy FRIDAY! I try not to live for the weekends, but I really do love having a couple days to unplug, unwind, and soak in extra time with family and friends. I hope you all have fun weekend plans scheduled as well as some time to rest and reflect. We have a pretty jam packed, fun weekend ahead of us and before it begins, I wanted to FINALLY share a day in the life of post with you all.
Today, I’m sharing a peek into our Wednesday, because it was just a really, really good day.
Let’s rewind to Wednesday morning.
Morning and Run
Lately, I’ve been trying to get up early (5 am) in order to have my devotions, power through some work, and blog. Wednesday morning, I woke up early, poured myself a cup of coffee (typical) and sat down with my Bible. There’s something about the stillness of a new morning with Jesus and coffee that literally changes my entire day. I crave this time in the morning and if I sleep past my alarm, my entire days feels thrown off. Thankfully, Wednesday morning, I was able to get up when I wanted and had a grind couple hours reading, praying, and working.
Once Benaiah was up, I got him breakfast and he enjoyed his pancakes while I ran an easy paced, 60 minute run. Thanks to Netflix, my run flew by and 6.5 miles later, I was finished and Niah was ready to finished with his breakfast too. If Niah is eating his breakfast while I run, I put his high chair right next to the treadmill, so I can keep an eye on him and he can cheer me on 😉
We spent the rest of our morning, getting ready for my mom and sisters arrival! My sister’s BIRTHDAY was Wednesday and I was more than ready for a day of celebration!
My sister’s and mom arrived at our place around 11:15 and we started off our celebrations with a little singing session. Fun fact: My sisters and I have sung together for as long as I can remember. Some of my favorite memories are singing together at special events, at baseball games, or during our nightly kitchen clean up. I miss singing with my sisters, so whenever we get the chance to sing together it’s literally, the best!
After our little singing session, we got in the car, I jumped on a business call and we drove to our favorite, little breakfast/lunch spot.
Lunch and Coffee Stop
I am that person that orders the same thing ever time, because I love it so much. I try to be adventurous, but I haven’t arrived yet. I ordered my typical sweet potato + quiona + feta salad and devoured the entire thing. Landon ended up joining us, which made the lunch super special. Some my favorite people in one place!
IS MY MOM NOT GORGEOUS OR WHAT??
After lunch, we took time strolling downtown and while we were walking, the sky was filled with tiny little white flakes. It felt so magical! We ducked into our favorite coffee shop and sipped on almond milk lattes, laughed at ridiculous inside jokes and took about a million photos.
These days remind me of what a gift sisters, family, friends and relationships are. I confess, I am a task oriented person and sometimes get so distracted by my ‘to-do’ list, that I ignore the most important people in my life. Spending time with those I love, often reminds me of what a true gift and joy friendship is. So, mom and sisters, thank you for reminding me of what a true blessing relationships are. I love you ladies.
Dinner with Friends
We spent the rest of our afternoon warming up at home and at the nail salon. After we said our goodbyes, I made a quick Mexican themed dinner (with the BEST guacamole!) and sweet potato brownies, since our friends Andy and Emma were coming over.
Dinner was good, company was better and we stayed up talking and playing nerdy investment games late into the night. I am super thankful for these friends and we literally connect on so many levels. Emily and I are fellow HRG readers (hungry runner girl) and love chatting about running and blogs and a ton of other things. It is such a joy to have friends who get you and appreciate late night board game sessions. We were having so much fun, I forgot to snap any pictures.
Thankful for days like this. And even though not every day is filled with lattes and belly laughs; I am thankful for the days that are and remind me that life is beautiful, for so many reasons. Thankful for God’s good gifts like family and friends and lattes and babies and work and running and so much more.
I hope you all have an awesome weekend! Enjoy the little things and savor each moment!
